Quilting in the UK: with Annette Morgan

UK art quilter Annette Morgan talks about the latest trends in quilting in the UK, with particular reference to art quilting and contemporary UK quilters’ work. As a previous President of The Quilters’ Guild of The British Isles, Annette was in an exciting position during a period of significant change when the guild launched the Festival of Quilts. Annette has won a number of international awards for her textile artwork, is an author, founding member of several quilt groups, and is tutor and mentor to the Out of the Fold group.

Gala Dinner

7.00pm, Saturday, May 1

The social highlight of AQC each year is the Gala Dinner. Truly a spectacular evening of entertainment, superb food, fine wine and fabulous company. This year we take you to a mystery venue and celebrate quilting in our region of the world. Pre-dinner drinks commence at 7.00pm. Come with friends or as a single – you won’t be alone – you’ll be with quilters! During the course of the evening, there will be the much anticipated announcement of several very special awards:

  • The National Quilt Award is presented to the maker of the quilt that is judged the best from the Best of Show quilts from the annual state guild shows around the country.
  • The Shining Light Award goes to a quilter under 18 years of age and is an encouragement award for junior quilters.
  • The Rajah Award acknowledges the outstanding contribution by an individual to quilting in Australia.
  • The Lut-Da Award goes to a quilter who has made an outstanding contribution to their local or quilting community via the medium of quilting.
