Winner’s Circle Tutor: Sandra Chandler Lawhon Skill level: Intermediate. No curve piecing experience required. The Winner’s Circle block is often overlooked because of the fear of curved piecing. In this
class you will use Sandra’s Curve Master presser foot to easily sew curves with no pinning or clipping, making the quilt accessible to all quilters regardless of experience. The Winner’s Circle block benefits from embellishment to create a stunning result with pleated fabric. In this class you will learn how to: ‘torture’ and distort pleats for visual impact; rotary cut using acrylic templates; piece curves and straight seams with an accurate scant 1/4” seam; incorporate embellished fabric into a quilt design. In this technique workshop learn what an oil paint stick is and how you use it with textiles. Have all your questions answered in this hands-on workshop with art quilter Sue Dennis who has been using oil sticks in her work for more than 10 years. Image transfer paper with image; paper with images and transfoils will be supplied In this technique class, experiment with transfer papers, painted Bond-a- Web/WonderUnder, fuse FX, dyed scrim and foils to create a stitched piece or work which can be mounted or framed. Scrap Queen Odyssey Tutor: Brenda Gael Smith Skill level: All Join Brenda in an adventurous journey designed to realise the potential of your quilting scrap bag, no matter what shape or size your scraps are. (For ease of handling and optimal quiltmaking efficiency, this workshop does not use pieces smaller than 1 ½ inches wide.)
