Expertise Events is committed to building on the success of the Australasian Quilt Convention and its valuable contribution to quilting in Australasia.
The aim of some much anticipated special awards is to promote patchwork and quilting in Australia, and to encourage and recognise contributions made by individuals in the quilting world. The winners will be announced at the Gala Dinner on Saturday, May 1.
The National Quilt Award is presented to the maker of the quilt that is judged the best from the Best of Show quilts from the annual state guild shows around the country.
The Shining Light Award goes to a quilter under 18 years of age and is an encouragement award for junior quilters.
The Rajah Award acknowledges the outstanding contribution by an individual to quilting in Australia.
The Lut-Da Award goes to a quilter who has made an outstanding contribution to their local or quilting community via the medium of quilting.
We invite you to nominate any worthy candidates for the Shining Light, Rajah or Lut-Da Awards. Please note these are national awards, not a state competition. Your nominee can be from any state in Australia; your nomination can also be for someone previously nominated but that did not win an award at that time.
Previous winners of the Rajah Award have been:
(The Late) Narelle Grieve - 2005
Margaret Rolfe - 2006
Lessa Siegele - 2007
Faye Cunningham - 2008
Gloria Loughman - 2009
Please find below links to the nomination forms for these awards. If you would like to nominate, please return the relevant forms by January 30.
